On CaraMaps are referenced several types of places that are useful when travelling by motorhome, caravan and van. They are all present on the interactive map and differentiated by symbols.
Here is the meaning of each of these icons:
➥ Spot : Unofficial place where you usually stop for the night. It is most often located in nature or in isolated locations and most often without services.
➥ Parking : Parking space for the day and sometimes at night. It can be reserved for motorhomes or shared with cars.
➥ Service area : A place where grey and black waters can be emptied. There is usually water and sometimes electricity. It is often possible to park there.
➥ Private area : Parking area with or without services, managed by tourism professionals from the private sector (restaurant, hotel, etc.)
➥ CaraMaps hoster : A private individual, a farmer or a B&B owner, for example, who wishes to provide an area and services for visiting motorhome drivers.
➥ Campsite : Land suitable for tents, caravans, motorhomes and vans. There are water, sanitary facilities and usually electricity, as well as a place to empty grey and black water.
➥ Highway area : A parking area located on a motorway with WC, picnic tables and waste bins. It can also offer a restaurant, a fuel station or even a service area.
➥ Fuel station : A place where you can fill up with fuel. There are also sometimes gas bottles as well as a filling and washing station.
➥ Tourist office : Present in each city, it is a place where you can go to get all the information about the must-see visits of the region and events planned during your stay.
➥ RV dealer : You can buy but also sometimes rent a motorhome. They generally have an accessory shop and a repair workshop.
